I changed power supply and everything looks nice. Faster, better, GNOMEr :-) I’m also going to upgrade my RAM, more memory is always better. BTW I’ve got my Ubuntu CDs, gave all at work! While give them hear some nice quotes:

  • Do you have the serial key number? You don’t need, open source… free software?
  • Is it borrowed? No, it’s all for you
  • Is it a demo? One CD one powerfull OS
  • What it is? A very good Linux distribution

We will start using Ubuntu at work! Excelent!

Not piracy at all

I own an original MS Windows copy because of my laptop. I don’t use it at all but someday (don’t remember when) I installed and activated the serial number, now trying to using it through VMWare and… Microsoft refuses my serial number, reason? You have already used this activation number… now what? Do I need to buy another copy? FORGET IT!

Deluded Mario, who though (again) that using original copies were the answer. I really tried, but allowing only few activations is a pain in the ass. I need to activate for using the OS… WTF!!

I don’t even use it everyday… I won’t pay anything.

Broken desktop PC

… then the computer power off, since time ago my computer reboot by itself, I’m guessing that I need a new power supply. I really miss my computer :-(

MonoUML in japanese? Thanks to Atsushi Eno for his translation.

MonoUML in Japanese

BTW. MonoCanvas’ performance is better. There are cursors to represent states while moving and resizing shapes. IMO everthing is looking better ;-)

Solved

Today I solved my previous problem, How did I solve it?? Wasn’t too easy but I have a very nice friend who is always with me: cup of coffee :-) . I only need many cups of coffee (espresso, american, whatever you like), google and MSDN.  I just can’t believe many things, such as: CComSafeArray and COleSafeArray produce different SAFEARRAYs (Ole-one worked), AxfOleInit doesn’t work (even if returns TRUE) if you use it within any DLL (for calling other DLL) OleInitialize does the trick, Microsoft’s Wizards really suck! Forget them.. do it by yourself.
And yes, Pointer Arithmethic sometimes is hard, but I just love it.

Next step? Better performance.

Scratching my head

I’ve been working in a DLL wrapping since two weeks ago, why is it taking too much? Let’s get the facts:

Even you were UNIX programmer you know the DLL definition, you understand that as a library, simple and normal shared library, forget the dynamic and all the bullshit, library nothing else, but in the Windows-world this isn’t true all the time, Why? because of Microsoft’s technologies. So, there are two kind of DLL libraries: Standard and ActiveX. Differences? Many MS Windows programmers love to use ActiveX-based libraries (they are also called Ole/COM/whatever… there’s a long history about that… get any COM Book for getting the uncensored history) because those integrate MS programming languages in a easy way.. or at least they sell that idea, and yes.. sometimes is better doing the job than doing it well.

However, lets be good people and think nice. Ok, I accept the COM technology, looks nice, (better CORBA, however)… but, Why the hell those programmers decided to use that technology?!!? Didn’t they think in the future? What about cross-platform compatibility? Ok, nice, use MS Windows, use their technologies use everything… But at least… document your parametrs!? Yes I know… reverse engineering works… but documentation is better and better!!

Nowadays I program in any language (even Delphi), I’m not as I used to be, am getting paid and the work needs to be done. But using Visual Basic!? WTF!! VB just sucks, bad programming language, period. Learning it isn’t difficult at all, the problem is when trying to do real things, not just “forms“. I prefer Delphi… and I thought won’t said it…

C++ rocks, and I will be trying until I get the solution. I’m not a MS Windows programmer, I don’t like Visual Basic Sorry, I’m real developer.

… BTW I don’t have personal issues, would VB considered as personal issue?

And I didn’t go out… again

Yes… This end of year I spend my time sleeping and, again, I didn’t go out. However I woke up early and went to get some magazines… as you may think, the city is empty, everyone sleeping and some others awake but drunks asking for more to drink :-P

Anyway I found the magazines, I bought some and now, I’ve finished reading them. What’s next? Keep updating MonoCanvas, and.. starting a diet :-P
